Description
James Sanford Ellsworth (American, 1802/03- 1874), A miniature watercolor on paper of a handsome young gent in a scrolled arm American empire chair. Ca. 1830 -60's. Unsigned. In a very nice gilt frame with a neat attachment for the hanger, don't know if this is an original frame or not but it certainly works perfectly for me. I've examined this out of the frame and under black-light and it is in great original condition, no restoration or repairs. Sorry about my camera lens reflected in the glass. As I'm sure you know Mr Ellsworth painted these and then cut them into silhouettes and pasted them to a card, some of the paste has dried so when unframed you can see this treatment better. I've tried to show how this one is done on 2 pieces of paper and then laid down on the card, which has some printing on the back.
