Description
I have several vintage drum sets (see my other auction of 3 Camco drums) and several vintage snare drums that I hate to part with but simply must down size! So up for auction here is a rare, hard to find, beautiful, antique wooden snare drum in nice condition. I bought this about five years ago and don't know much about the history of it, but it appears to me based on other early drums I have seen to be late 19th century or early 20th century era - the early jazz age. A company called "Lyons and Healey" in Chicago made one that looks very similar. You can imagine how many drummers may have played this drum over the last hundred years and in what different settings!! Saloons? Parades? (it has a ring attachment for a marching strap) Vaudeville bands? Orchestras? If only it could talk! (If anyone has any opinion on its age from looking at the photos please feel free to comment). The heads and the strainer are not original but the hardware certainly appears original. The brass tips on the tension "rods" are gorgeous when polished. The drum sounds great when the heads are tuned and the strainer tightened. This wonderful piece of americana would be great for an antique collector, for use as a unique wall hanging, for a Civil War Reenactment Band, or just for playing. Shipping will be a flat $12.00. The snare stand shown in the photos is NOT included.
