The quintessential photographic monograph showing the modernization of certain small sections of Shanghai in the early years of republican China. Consisting of a brief 12-page text essay in English, followed by (50) mounted photogravure plates with printed surrounding borders throughout. All leaves on deluxe hand-made crème paper. Textured card wrappers with tipped-on photo plate, maroon cloth spine. Large-format – (26 x 32cm). A very rare Chinese photo monograph of the early 20th century. Packed Weight: Under 5kg.
