Circa late 19th Century. Dimensions: Punch Bowl - OH: 8-5/8 in., ODIA: 12-3/8 in. Cups - OH: 3-1/4 in., OL: 5-1/8 in., ODia: 3-5/7 in. Ladle - OL: 11-1/4 in, OW: 3-1/2 in. Punchbowl: Gorgeous heavy Punch Bowl appears to be good English/Irish silver plate...made by heat fusing (literally) plates of silver to a plate of copper and not by the "electro-plating" most people are quite familiar with. Gorgeous, very heavy, Irish/English silver plate punch bowl on a heavy pedestal base. The exterior of the punch bowl is repousse & hand chased with heavy decoration consisting of 4 Baroque cartouches surmounted on classical foliate and these being divided by bouquets and sprays of foliate & flowers. The supporting heavy pedestal to this punch bowl is ornamented on four sides with heavy repousse & hand-chased foliate & flower sprays. Not monogrammed, never has been. If you look closely at the second "Ball Scene" in the recent movie "Pride & Prejudice" you will see this set in the movie. Punch Cups: The 12 matching cups are light repousse & hand chased with the same type of decoration. ; the cup handles being double and inverted c scrolls ornamented with leaves. Ladle: The heavy Antique Lade that has been coordinated with this set is Wm. Rogers & Son AA plate in their Oxford pattern, circa 1901; with a cartouche on the handle, the style being baroque and having similar floral accents on the handle and around the bowl. Condition: Overall, EXTREMELY GOOD to EXCELLENT OVERALL CONDITION.  All items show very minimal use.   Interior base of the punch bowl and inner bowl of the ladle have the most usage. Punch Bowl - some heavy scratches from use. Ladle - some pitting and dark spots inside the ladle bowl. Marked: The Punch Bowl and one cup are marked with the "Folgate NBS" banner, trefoil, garden gate logo over "HandChased” surmounting "Made In England"; the other 11 cups having four hall marks (see photos).
