Pre Columbian Pottery Figure VERA CRUZ Coast Watcher 9" Beautiful Very Large Vera Cruz Pottery Female FigureMexicoClassic Period, Ca. 300-600 AD. Lovely very large Vera Cruz Female figure. The figure is characterized by its large head featuring an elaborate headdress with tiered feather design.  She is wearing ear spools, large double pendant necklace. The face is delicately rendered with incised eyes, delicately rendered brow line , aquiline nose, full parted lips with teeth exposed.  Black bitumen details; black plumage, black cosmetic eye line and black pupil dot,  also unusual ceremonial black marks around mouth. The figure is a female as indicated by her small breasts. She sits with her legs in a circular position with hands/arms propped on knees. Her arms feature incised wristbands.A truly beautiful piece with excellent eye appeal. Material: Solid Hand-formed Warm buff pottery with Black bitumen painted details.
