Description
View Sellers Shop | Contact Seller This is a pair of rather gorgeous green and ivory polished linen curtains, which are a good length. They are vintage, being some 30 years old or so, made in France, but from a country house in Surrey, Westcroft Park, near Chobham, which is being sadly demolished. They are made from a polished linen fabric with ivory cotton lining and a medium weight interlining. The curtains are in good condition, but there is one area which is damaged at the bottom vertical edge, which you can see in the photo (no. 8) where I think the linen has suffered from damp and completely deteriorated over an area the size of about 9" by 6" (23 cm by 15 cm), leaving the interlining exposed. The rest is otherwise in good condition and lovely. The length is 2.7 m (9 ft ) long by 1 m 10 cm ( 3ft 6 inches) wide (each curtain) therefore large enough for a 6 - 7 ft wide window. There is a pair of woollen tassled tie backs which come with the curtains. These curtains weigh over 13 kg, so they are heavy - an indication of the quality! The curtains came with a pelmet which is solid wood, covered with fabric over padding and piped edges, and if required it would be available for £30 as a buy it now to the winning bidder of the curtains. The pelmet is shown in the photograph, with the curtains, in situ. The pelmet would require collection or an organised delivery as it is heavy and lengthy ( 7 ft 3" by 6" deep - that is, 2 m 20 cm by 15 cm and the drop is 3 ft - 92 cm maximum) and it may be that any potential bidder only requires the curtains, not the pelmet which is why it will be available separately. Any questions, please ask! This is an old photo of Westcroft Park in its original splendour! Please remember with vintage or antique textiles they are not perfect (unless I happen to mention they are!) so please do not expect that (believe me some people do!). If you have any doubts please ask before bidding, I will happily try to assist. Thanks! Why not take a look at our 'About me' page, if you have a minute? INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: We only usually list a domestic postage price for heavy items so please email for a quote before bidding to avoid costly surprises! Thank you!
