Magdalenian lithic projectiles I would not evoke the harpoons which are very rare to find on the market and of a great value, but rather of the lithic armatures. Points made on blades were recognized like points of projectile, especially in the final period of the magdalenian. Some were found with breaks of impact what proves that they were used like this. There are several types of points : some are simple, with a light retouch on the distal and on the proximal end, for example the point of la Laugerie-Basse, some are notched, like the magdalenian point with a large notch, or tanged, like the point of Hamburg or the point of Teyjat. Different backed little blades or micro blades could be also used combined to an assagai to make a composite spearhead : the hard and flexible hantler to drill, the fragile flint to cut and facilitate the penetration of the assagai in the animal. To obtain this result, several microblades were assembled serially, glued with resin, on a point made in hantler or on a wood spear with a flint point. Some of these microblades were abruptly retouched creating a flat back to intensify their stability and to facilitate the montage on the support. Sometimes a groove was dug to receive the microblades, it is the case for the assagai type of the Magdalenian 3. Some examples of this kind of composite assembly were found in Pincevent, in the Blanchard cave and also in several sites in other countries. The experts think that some unretouched microblades could have been also fixed with this method. Payment Paypal, international postal order, bank transfer, other.
