It measures about 10 1/2 by 16 inches (about 26 by 41 cm.), and is in truly Fine condition. This map is quite detailed, including topographical features, many islands, countries, cities and villages, and more. The map is designed to show the expansions of humans into the Pacific, using coloring to show historically related language groups. An inset diagram shows language relationships with Malay and South China languages as the root, expanding first through the Caroline, Marshall and Gilbert Island groups, then throughout the Solomons, New Hebrides, Loyalty and Fiji Islands, and finally throughout the Tonga Islands, Society Islands, Hawaiian Islands and New Zealand. Interestingly, the language tree postulates some early influence from Madagascar. This map differentiates between Atoll Islands and Volcanic Islands, even though this is probably an artificial distinction. This is a guaranteed genuine antique map!It ships complete with certificate of authenticity documenting source, maker and date of printing.
