Description
Gothic Rosewood Stick Barometer/Thermometer, Charles Wilder, Peterboro, New Hampshire, c. 1860, Recently acquired from the estate of a very prolific collector of fine clocks, maps, barometers and stamps. Thumb-molded door opens to an engraved brass/silvered dial showing barometric pressure. Scales are marked "Woodruff's Pat. June 5, 1860" and  "Charles Wilder Peterboro N.H."     5-3/4" mercury column mounted on 8" base. Graduations somewhat faded but still visible. Nice patina on what appears to be original finish. Number 33 impression (top back). Measures approx. 38" long Auction listing stated this item was purchased for $375 in 1982.
