First published in the 1890s, this twenty-second edition published in 1922 is greatly expanded and updated from earlier editions (this edition was revised in 1920). Packed with the sometimes useless & near quackery of the earlier period but updated to include the more advanced and practical as known circa 1920. Very well illustrated with photographs and drawings. Despite the many editions published it is rather scarce.... and this copy is in nice collectible condition as well. PUBLISHER: Ritchie & Company - Chicago YEAR: Has a "Copyright, 1920" statement on the copyright page with no other printing history listed and with "1922" printed on the title page. A stated "Twenty-Second Edition". This book was first published in the 1890s BINDING: Semi-rigid boards. Title information stamped in gold on the spine and front cover DUST-JACKET: None (as issued) PAGES: 394 (plus a detailed 12 page index) SIZE: Sm 8vo (about 5 1/2" x 7 5/8") ILLUSTRATIONS:  Well illustrated with many photographs, charts and line drawings CONDITION: Book is in VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) condition with slight wear to the covers and cover corners, a fold line down the center of the back cover (semi rigid binding), some fading to the gold stamped titles, some wrinkling to text page corners, age toning to the inside covers and endpapers/blank pages and some handwritten notes in ink to the last index page and blank page opposite. Otherwise complete, tight, bright and tear-free.
