Description
Ganneleah Store EARLY AMERICAN PRIMITIVE FOLK ART ANTIQUE TOTEM POLE/DRUM LATE 1800'S TO EARLY 1900  EARLY AMERICAN FOLK ART CARVING! UNUSUAL LATE 1800'S TO EARLY 1900'S HANDCARVED TOTEM POLE/DRUM/MORTER Up for your consideration is an Unusual piece of Early American Folk Art dating to the late 1800's to the early 1900's in age.  It has the appearance of a partial Old Totem Pole with carving of several faces (9 faces) and other geometric designs and also a pine tree.  I was told that this was possibly an old drum or a mortar that was carved into a totem pole-like image.  It has a blend of tribal African & Indian carvings and it is initialed/signed by the carver J. P. on the inside in red paint. It is a large,, long interesting piece that measures around waistlength at 32 inches X 9 1/4 inches.  It is a very weathered piece from age and it has extremely old square & irregular blend of nails holding an old piece of light green tin~all indicators of the 1800's to early 1900's age.  Please see all photos~I have listed several closeups for your inspection including ones of the nails & the tin.  The wood is very weathered and grey as stated above and thinned out from years upon years of usage.  It has 6 knotches were holes are located in the base of the object.  This piece was found around Sugarcreek/Walnutcreek, Ohio located in what is called Amish Country~a very rural community where many antique pieces such as this one are found.  I was told that this was in the back of a very old barn.  Well for those of you who love Original Rare pieces such as this, I am sure that you would enjoy displaying this in your home of Primitives & Collectibles from a By~Gone Era.    Please note that shipping is limited to the United States only~no oversea bidders.  Shipping is figured out according to zipcode.  I use Priority and UPS. Paintings/Antiques that are extremely fragile/made of glass etc. and items going over $400, may be professionally packaged by UPS~please keep this under consideration when bidding~package charges by UPS normally run 15.00 to 25.00 extra, depending on size and value of item.  When I package an item, , there is normally a basic charge of $3.00 to $12.00 for boxes, materials, delivering to PO or UPS and time invested to package safely. ALL SALES ARE FINAL~NO RETURNS~ Please remember that I sell mostly vintage and antique items which are not usually perfect due to the aging process; this means they could have tears, repairs, crazing, dents etc. which I do state in the listing. I do try to supply very large photographs for your inspection and can email them to you~just ask. You can contact me personally at Ganneleah@aol.com and I will be glad to answer any questions that you may have.  Though I do not claim to be an expert in paintings and antiques, I have been a seller for approximately 10 years and do have a decent knowledge  on the items that I sell and will tell you as much information on the item that is within abiity.  I do try to list nice, large photographs that can be viewed for your inspection and will assist you in any way I can by answering questions and sending additional photos of the item/items you are interested in.
