Description
Circa 1800 (Edo) 11” & 12 ¼”. Ko-Imari Nishikide Kaku-Fuku Kokiemon Kiln. This is a fabulous 200 year old pair of deep bowls that are elaborately painted with many different colors and showing 2 Shi-Shi dogs, one gold and one purple. There are also colorful butterflies in the center and various florals throughout. The inside and outside rim design has beautiful floral cartouches, reserves in red, blue, gold, green, orange underglaze interspersed by a light blue geometric design. The outside of the bowls are covered with orange flowers and gold trimmed vines and butterflies. Base has an attractive light and dark blue pattern. The 11" bowl is in perfect condition with 2 very minor chips on the inside double bottom. The 12 ¼” bowl is also in perfect condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines but one small spot caused during firing. A truly gorgeous set! Check out my other items!
