Description
Scarce c. 1800's OLD PARIS PORCELAIN FIGURAL VASES Part Glazed, Part Unglazed Bisque GOLD GILT, EXQUISITE DETAILS Very Similar Vases as Seen on ANTIQUES ROADSHOW!! click picture to enlarge click picture to enlarge This is an auction for a VERY SCARCE LARGE OLD PARIS PORCELAIN VASES. VERY SIMILAR VASES AS THESE WERE RECENTLY FEATURED ON THE "ANTIQUES ROADSHOW" IN HOUSTON. To see the Roadshow Vases, go to www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/fts/houston_200503a24.html. These Vases are marked on the bottoms (see photos). The marks are slightly different on each Vase. I do not know which Parisian factories they are from. If anyone recognizes these marks, please do email me. I would great appreciate being able to add that information to my listing. These Vases are probably considered Garnitures. According to the Roadshow appraiser, the fact that they are Partly Shiny Glazed and Partly Unglazed Bisque Porcelain renders them Very Rare and Valuable. The Man, Woman, Lamb, Dog and Grass are Unglazed. The Painted Scenes and the rest of the Vases are Glazed Shiny Porcelain. He also said that these Vases were very expensive when new and probably only the rich could afford them. He also stated that these type of Vases were probably exported from France to the South, probably through New Orleans. They feature a French Man and Woman Courting in the Countryside. The Details of the Man and Woman and Animals are truly unbelievable!! The Painted Scenes behind them are also equisite!! There is a lot of gold gilt on the Leafy decorations. The Vases measure 15" Tall and 10" Across the Front. They are both in Excellent Condition with no cracks or chips. However, two of the tiny fingers of the Woman and one of the tiny fingers of the Man are missing. Since there is so much detail to these vases, the missing tiny fingers are only noticed upon very close inspection. There is also some rubbing of the gold gilt of the leaves, etc., on the vases due to age (see photos). These Vases are really Superb and Exquisite!! I have taken many photos to show the incredible detail of these Vases. Please ask any and all questions. SHIPPING WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PURCHASER. PURCHASER WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY THE SHIPPING COMPANY DIRECTLY. HOWEVER, I USE A VERY PROFESSIONAL SHIPPING COMPANY HERE IN FREDERICKSBURG THAT PACKS AND SHIPS WORLDWIDE.
