MONUMENTAL 19 CENTURY FRENCH BRONZE ORMOLU CANDELABRUM SHOWPIECE with HAND CUT CRYSTAL BOBECHES ELABORATE DORE GILT ELEMENTS, WINGED PUTTI CHERUB + MYTHOLOGICAL BEAST CREATURES GRAND PALACE OPULENCE - Circa 1800s - Taking inspiration from classic antiquity this uncommon and most superb dore gilt ornamental candlestand is an object of grand presence. Extravagant richly carved sculptural ormolu elements are evident throughout. Rising from an elegant scalloped platform base the central pedestal is formed of sweeping acanthus scrolls reaching up to join 5 five stylized foliate branches. Fierce bearded griffin/chimera/dragon serpents move sinuously through stylized foliate relief to support beautifully decorated candle cups in their mouth. The opulent leaf encrusted sconces are complimented by fine brilliant cut crystal bobeche drip pans of the highest quality (Baccarat). An enchanting nude winged putto figure lends the perfect finishing touch.
