Description
Circa 1920's, Art Nouveau Bronze figurine of a woman holding her flowing dress forming a dish with flowres throughout, signed "Carlier". Excellent codnition. felt at the bottom. Measures: 9" high. 7 1/2" across at widest. Hefty at 4 1/2 lbs. Emile Joseph Nestor Carlier (1849-1927) was a pupil of Henri Chapu (1833-1891) at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. His début at the Paris Salons in 1875 with a statuette of a historian. Later he concentrated on allegorical and genre groups as L'Inondation. He was awarded a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle of 1889 and medals at the Antwerp and Amsterdam exhibitions at the turn of the century. These figurines sell for thousands at auctions! .
