1904 Thonet Cradle Beautiful bent beechwood Start Price USD 1,800.00 Current Price USD 1,800.00 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Monday, November 24, 2008 End Time Thursday, December 04, 2008 Location New Albany, OH See more about '1904 Thonet Cradle' Description This rare swing-cott is in good, original condition.  Recognized as the Art Nouveau Thonet Cradle Number 2, it can be found in the 1904 illustrated Thonet bentwood catalogue (ISBN 048624024x).  A fine arts dealer (who owned an even more exquisite one now in the National Gallery of Melborne Australia) recommends the new owner strip it and apply 3-4 coats of shellack, gut it back with fine steel wool, and then wax it up to a nice warm sheen.  A big wooden screw locks the swing function.  The cradle measures approximately 50 inches long X 27 inches wide; the height from floor to top of cradle is 32 inches, but it is 68 inches from the floor to the top of the canopy hook.  More photos would be provided upon request.  Place a Bid!
