Description
Up for bid is thie very rare late 1700's, 18th century pine drop leaf, leave colonial table.  This is in great shape for it's age and rare features.  You can see by the old handmade T nail, dates it along with the style of the legs to this period.  There are no screws holding the legs in, they are cut and mitered in, and glued with the old animal or collagen glue.  I am sure this probably served a family well in their one or two room home, or if they were lucky in that saltblock style home.  Some of the nails on top, are visable, some are not as they were filled in, but not with wood putty, looks to be something orginal to the piece.  The two leaves are held up by a slide out piece of wood that extends to the stop. I point out one of these small 3/4 x 1 1/2 pieces of wood is missing.  There is a drawer at one end, as you see it is loose, but all there. Someone 50 years or so ago put a couple newer nails in but needs to be glued. You can she the handmade, straight dovetail, that was cut to make the drawer.  The know is wood as is the wood carved screw.  This has been with the table many years, but when you take the knob out, you can see a larger handmade threaded knob screwed into the drawer, the wood carved threads still there.  Stands 30" tall and it is 18" wide at the top, 19.5 inches wide at the leaves and each leaf extends out 8.5 inches.  It is 39 1/4" in length. I think this was possibly finished in a shellac type finish and it still retains that.  The table is very solid still, not wobbly in any way.  Very primitive, but very interesting and would look great in your late 1700 or early 18th or 19th century home.  This is shipable with the shipping expenses packing paid by the buyer. It could go greyhound, pretty reasonably.  I also have a Civil War table, that hasn't been paid for that I will probabliy be reslisting.  Check out the rest of my listings, more items added daily.
