tsp_sells4u Store 18th C. ENGLISH GOTHIC OAK TRIDARN SIDEBOARD BUFFET Circa: 1780Dimensions: 50" wide x 18" deep x 79" high Stock Number: E1008-0282 This magnificent TRIDARN was made in England circa 1790. We purchased it in Oxford, England. The Tridarn is made of Oak. It has a rich, Deep Oak Patina. This is a Charles II Gothic Tridarn. It is in very good condition. This is a majestic piece of Period Furniture. It was designed to impress. It would have been placed in the Great Hall or Dining Room of a Manor Home, storing the valuable silver and china. It would make a very fine Wine Cabinet. The Gothic Design is the perfect foil for creating a beautiful display of your Wine Collection. It has an incredibly lovely Cornice. It is carved in Fine Foliate Scroll Work which scallops delightfully toward a Central Rosette. A Display Shelf flows across the top. Scroll Work Finials flank the Display Area. Under the Shelf is an Overhanging Canopy of Gothic Arches with delicate, Carved Finials embellishing the point where each of the Arches meet. This Canopy of Arches is supported by Massive Turned Columns. The Columns have Acanthus Leaf Carving embellishing them. The back of the Gallery has Three Intricately Carved Tracery Panels. In the center of each is a Diamond Pattern with Rosette at the center. These are framed by Foliate Scroll Work. An unusual, Tear Drop Shaped Gardooning frames each of these Panels in a Double Row. This Gallery creates a large display area. Your Fine Silver or Collectibles will look spectacular displayed here. Just below are Two Long Drawers. These Drawers are spectacularly carved will a Lush Foliate Scroll Work. The Drawers open to reveal roomy interiors for storing your Silver Settings. The Drawers are flanked by unusual, beautifully carved, Wide Scrolls which are pierced at the Back. Scrolls also embellish the sides of the cabinet. The Center of the Cabinet has a Right Hand Open Door. This Door and the Two Angled Fixed Panels which flank it are all beautifully carved. They match the Panels above with lushly carved Rosette at the center of lovely Tracery Panels. These are framed by unusual Gadroon Carving. The total effect is quite remarkable. Gorgeous Columns flank the Central Door. The Door opens to reveal a large interior. Below is another Set of Long Drawers. These are also spectacularly carved with Foliate Scroll Work. There is an Under Tier at the bottom of the Tridarn. It is supported upon Massive, Carved Columns embellished with Acanthus Leaf Carving. The Under Tier has beautifully carved, Tracery Panels at the Back. Double rows of Carved Gadrooning frame the Panels. Each of the Tiers have finely carved, Edges. The Piece comes with its Original Hardware. This includes the Massive Hinges, Gothic Bale Handles, and Drop Pull. The Apron below is carved with a delicate Foliate Scroll Carving. The Tridarn is raised upon charming Bun Feet. A strong ecclesiastical influence was used to create this English Gothic Charles II Tridarn. The many Tiers and Gothic Arches with their fabulous Supporting Columns combine to create a stately piece of furniture. This Tridarn is the work of a fine Cabinet Maker. It is a masterpiece!
