Hopefully, by now if you have looked at our other auctions and you have had an opportunity to see the "Prince of Preachers" original hand corrected sermon notes. Preached on Sunday morning, corrected on Sunday night in preparation for the Passmore and Alabaster publication "The Sword & Trowel" Yes these Galley Proofs are extremely RARE, as rare as hens teeth, hand corrected, and initialed by Charles Haddon Spurgeon, himself. This was the last stage of the printing process, once again returned to C.H. Spurgeon, for one sometimes two or more revisions, before the actual publication of the Sword & Trowel went to press.These proofs measure 22 ½ inches by 8 ¾ inches . Their are 4 ½ proofs in all, the last proof measuring 8 ¾ inches by 11 inches Their is some ware and chipping to the edges of the paper, I suppose due to handling, and ware to the center of the galley proofs where they have been folded for storage over the years. The proof is dated November 3, 1889 .
