Description:  It is an Original Antique Map: Not a Reproduction!"  It is a steel plate engraved map with original handcoloring and the banknote border, the most sought after of all the Mitchell Maps. It is from Mitchell's New Universal Atlas, published by Thomas Cowperthwait & Co., 1851 edition. A very rare early Mitchell Atlas. A rare map to find. Size: The map image measures approximately 12 1/2 by 15 1/2 inches on a 13 1/2 by 17" page. Condition: The map is in Fair to Good condition with overall light tonal aging and original handcoloring. The map image is clean with some darkening and smudges around the margin. There is some light edgewear, some light indenting on the page hardly noticeable, a crease bottom left corner and the color is slightly faded to a more pastel quality as seen in the pic. The pic is of the actual map you are bidding.
